Ness of Brodgar excavation

You have probably heard of the Ness of Brodgar dig - a spectacular excavation in the middle of Orkney’s Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, best known as ‘Orkney’s Stone Age Temple’ or ‘Neolithic Cathedral’.

If you are visiting in Orkney whilst the dig is active it is a ‘must see’ site - the 2015 excavation dates are not yet confirmed but should at least be from Monday the 13th July until Friday the 21st August 2015.

We are already taking bookings for this period and anticipate a rush – in addition to TV specials with Neil Oliver and much press coverage of late, the dig has just featured as the August cover story in the National Geographic magazine.

Orkney Aspects is please to support the dig and this year we have co-sponsored the new improved version of the ‘Sponsor a Square at the Ness of Brodgar’ with the aim of raising enough funds to extend the dig for an extra 2 weeks in 2015.
