About Us

Orkney Aspects is owned and operated by  Scottish Tourist Guides Association qualified Orkney Regional Affiliate Green Badge Pat Stone.

Pat spent many happy years guiding large coach groups before branching out into driver-guiding, preferring to be able to offer her guests a personalised high quality experience.

Pat is also an official STGA guide trainer, training and mentoring many of the current generation of Orkney guides.

Of course as an Orkney Guide Pat is passionate about many subjects – Orkney’s rich history, culture, traditions and archaeology – but her special interest is the wonderful local food and drink.

This comes readily to her, since she also runs a small farm producing rare breed pork, excellent Orkney lamb and free range eggs, and has recently acquired two Highland cattle, Morag and Islay.

So naturally Pat has been heavily involved in the promotion of Orkney's exceptional produce - whisky, seafood, beef, farmhouse cheeses to name just a few - working with Orkney Quality Food and Drink & Taste of Orkney at many prestigious events, including the Country Living Fair and the BBC Good Food Show. (To this day other exhibitors still wonder why the Orkney stand was always finished first and never wanted for anything – little did they know that Pat always invited the exhibition staff to be first in line to sample our fine Orkney produce).

Pat takes an active role in her community, where her talent for making immense quantities of clapshot (an Orkney favourite, neeps & tatties mashed with butter) is much appreciated at local events.

As her guests say:

''Pat is the best tour guide ever

The time we spent on Orkney with Pat was the highlight of our visit to Scotland! I only wish we had spent longer touring and visiting with Pat. She is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and very interesting. She takes every detail into consideration when helping to plan the time you have visiting Orkney. I am so glad we found her.

From picking us up at the ferry to dropping us the next day, every detail was perfect. She helped us pick a great place to stay. Book a tour with Pat if you are going to Orkney...you definitely will not be disappointed! She knows practically everyone on the island and was able to have some places open early so we could see certain places during our much too short time on the island''.
